Ingredients
- 2 to 3 or 3 1/2 lbs lean meat cut into 1 1/2 to 2" pieces. (Can be stew meat - or shoulder or blade)
- 6 carrots, sliced thick (1" or 2" long)
- 1 cup celery in 2-3" lengths
- 6 to 8 largley cubed potatoes
- 1 cup soft bread crumbs
- 1 - 1lb 13 oz can tomatoes
- 3 med onions whole or halved
- 1 tbsp salt
- 3 tbsp salt
- 3 tbs tapioca
- 1/2 c sherry
- 1/4 tsp thyme
- Pinch of rosemary(If you don't have these herbs, skip)
5 HOUR STEW - Grandma Bernie
Mix all ingredients - place in quart casserole, cover and bake at 250 degrees for 5 hours. Wonderful for all-day-away ventures, like a cold football outing. If tomatoes are too tart - add 1 tbsp sugar. I often do.
